Coming out of the diversified streets of Cambridge, Massachusetts, Skitzofreniks have been a staple in the Boston Hiphop scene since the early 1990's. CheckMark and EB are a reflection of the environment that they were raised in and represent that cultural diversity with a raw, educated-street style of music that maintains the ethics that Hiphop was founded on: making something from nothing and having fun while doing so.

Growing up without fathers, Skitz often relied on Hiphop to serve as a father figure to guide them through life's ills. "As Hiphop has gone, so has my life", says Check, "I don't think it's a coincidence that when gangster rap became large and crime was glorified, we both got in trouble with the legal system. Now the focus in rap music seems to be to take initiative, make the best for yourself, and use the proper means to TAKE what you deserve. That's what we are doing now."

CheckMark and EB started out as Hiphop dancers in the late-80's, along with fellow Cantabridgian and Hiphop artist, KT (Killa Tactics). That experience is evident when witnessing their focus on making their live shows exciting and entertaining with high-energy performances. Their mentality is that anyone coming on stage after a Skitz' set is simply "closing" for them. "We live for our live shows," confesses EB, "that's where we get to share our energy and aura with our people. When you get to see us in person, you get it all, 'cause any second could be the last".

"In due time, all followers fold, that's part of the code"- CheckMark, from the soon-to-be-released "It Don't Matter". Skitz have learned by watching fads and stars rise and fall that the music industry is an ever-changing business that can break an artist faster than it can make a superstar. They worked with Buff Love a/k/a Human Beat Box of the Fat Boys during the final years of his life and got to see the politics that major label artists deal with. "Our image is to not have an image", says Check, "our goal is to make hot music while being ourselves, bottom line".

Although Skitzofreniks have been recording together since 1991, they steered away from attempting to release any music to the public until 1999 when "On My Own Sh!t" dropped on Brick Records. Their focus has always been on making music for themselves and people that could relate to it, while letting the cards fall where they are meant to. Their patience has resulted in a polished sound and attitude that has them ready to take on anything and everything that comes their way. "We owe everything to Hiphop and Cambridge for helping to make us who we are, and now it's our time to repay them!" -Skitzofreniks.

*Skitzofreniks have shared stages with Method Man, Special Ed, Black Moon, Jeru the Damaga, Cocoa Brovas, and Big Daddy Kane, have released the singles "On My Own Sh!t" (Brick), "C'Mon Dude!?!"(Brick) and "Slow It Down" (Bad Magic UK), and are featured on the forthcoming 7L & Esoteric LP "The Soul Purpose" (Direct).
